The Thankful Life

What are you most thankful for?  For many, it’s the big things in life...the family, the job, the talent, the house, the car. While these are all great blessings and worthy of thankfulness, have you ever considered this:

In our fast paced life, we often miss the beauty of the moments that are right in front of us and forget to be thankful for little things that are often taken for granted. Every morning, the day begins as the darkness gives way to the sun, rising in the east.  As the light of the sun breaks forth, it enhances the earth and allows us to see degrees of color that God has designed in his creation.  Every evening, the day ends with the gradual setting of the sun as the sky is perfectly painted in a vast array of colors. As the sun slips away and the darkness of night sets in, the moon appears surrounded by the twinkling light of the stars.

Since the creation of the earth, there has never been two sunrises exactly the same, nor has any sunset carried a duplicate. And as similar as stars appear to be, no two stars are alike. God designed it that way for you, but have you taken the time to thank Him? Sometimes it’s the little things that are really the big things.

During this Thanksgiving week, take the time to thank God for all of the things that you often take for granted.  Look beyond yourself and you will find something to be thankful for, not just at this season, but every day of the year.

“I will give thanks to the Lordwith my whole heart; I will recount all of Your wonderful deeds.” –Psalm 9:1
